Commissioners Propose New Parking Regulations

Haddonfield Commissioners introduced a bill Tuesday to change parking regulations on Kings Highway.

The Haddonfield Board of Commissioners introduced a bill on Tuesday to change parking regulations on Kings Highway.

Commissioner Ed Borden said the new ordinance will "remove some prohibitions on parking."

"For example it's illegal to park on Kings Highway in the vicinity of the high school between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the morning," Borden said. "That is not an ordinance that we've been enforcing for some time. These modifications will change that to what we believe is good policy for parking on Kings Highway during that time of the day."

The new ordinance will only prohibit parking on Kings Highway on Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., from Grove Street the the Port Authority Transit Corp. bridge. It will also prohibit parking on the south side of Kings Highway East from 88 feet west of the curb line of Haddon Avenue to Mechanic Street from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A public hearing will be held at the next commissioner's action meeting on Feb. 7.
