Commissioner Candidates Introduced to Public at Forum

The Haddonfield Republican Club Sponsored the forum Wednesday.

About 50 people turned out Wednesday night to hear from six candidates vying for the three Board of Commissioners seats on the ballot in next month's election.

Incumbents Ed Borden and Jeff Kasko face challengers Lee Anne Albright, Ken Kouba, John Moscatelli and Neal Rochford. The three commissioners on the board are the borough's highest elected officials.

Mayor Tish Colombi decided not to run for reelection after 28 years on the board.

The forum was sponsored by the borough Republican Club and held at the Municipal Hall auditorium. The candidates answered six prepared questions from the audience in the one-hour format.

The only issue that drew a sharp contrast was the failed Bancroft public purchase referendum.

Moscatelli was the only candidate who said he opposed the $12.5 million purchase and development plan for the 19.2-acre Bancroft property next to Haddonfield Memorial High School on Kings Highway East.

All six candidates are also scheduled to compete in a debate on April 24 at the high school. The election is on May 14.
