Haddonfield Sports Roundup

The Bulldawgs set their sights on state championships as postseason play arrives.

It was another great week for Haddonfield sports, as the teams wrapped up the regular season and prepared for state tournament play. Best of luck to the Bulldawgs in the NJISSA Tournament this week.

Girls’ Soccer- Haddonfield remained undefeated on the year by winning both of its games this week. The girls beat Haddon Heights 2-0 on Tuesday, then  on Wednesday. The Bulldawgs were scheduled to take on Lenape in the final of the South Jersey Coaches Tournament on Saturday, but that game was postponed due to rain. This week, Haddonfield will take on the winner of Monday’s Barnegat and Gloucester Tech matchup on Thursday in the second round of the NJISSA playoffs. They will also play the rescheduled SJCT final on Saturday at Eastern High School. That game will take place at 4 p.m.

Football- The Bulldawgs received a surprise bye week when Overbrook suspended 24 members of its football team and subsequently forfeited Friday night’s game. The 7-0 Dawgs are home this week, and take on Woodbury Friday night.

Boys’ Soccer- Haddonfield improved their record to 15-2-1 on the year by winning all three of their games this week. On Monday, the Bulldawgs took down Kingsway and followed that up on Wednesday by beating Lindenwold 7-0. Haddonfield then squeaked out a come from behind victory against Haddon Heights on Friday, winning 2-1. Haddonfield takes on Haddon Township Monday to finish the regular season. They then play the winner of Cinnaminson-Sterling on Friday in the second round of the NJISSA South Jersey Group II Tournament. The Bulldawgs earned the first seed, giving them a first round bye.

Field Hockey- The Bulldawgs got a win in their only game of the week, beating Moorestown 3-2 in a matchup of two of the top 20 teams in the state. This week, top seeded Haddonfield will take on Barnegat in the second round of the NJISSA Tournament on Wednesday.

Tennis- Haddonfield lost to Red Bank Catholic in the first round of the Tournament of Champions to end a great year for Haddonfield tennis. The Bulldawgs captured their fourth straight Group II title, and Taylor Ng, Catherin Senopoulos and Victoria Martinez became the in Haddonfield history.
