Corsen Harter, Hurdles Champ: Haddon Twp. Sports Week
Haddon Township's Harter won the 55-meter hurdles title in the NJSIAA Winter Track Group 1 Championships.
The winter season has begun to wind down, leaving just playoffs and tournaments left on the calendar. The Haddon Township High School girls basketball team continues to play like one of the best teams in the state, going 4-0 during the past seven days. Meanwhile, Trey Thatcher was lights out for the boys basketball team and the winter track team had a runner win a state title.
WINTER TRACK

Harter won the 55-meter hurdles at the NJSIAA Winter Track Group 1 Championships. Harter qualified with a second-place finish in the preliminaries, crossing the line in 7.96. He then shaved .27 seconds off that time in the finals, winning in 7.69.
While Harter was the lone Hawks representative to win a state title, he was hardly the only one to show well. Andrew Shaw grabbed sixth in the 1600 and teammate Luke Kessler took seventh in the 3200.

On the girls side, Kaela Culmer was 12th in the high jump.
BOYS BASKETBALL
It was a drama-filled week for the boys basketball team, which competed in a pair of nail-biters.
The Hawks spotted Overbrook an eight-point lead in the first quarter on Tuesday before storming back for a 49-46 road victory. Trey Thatcher put the Hawks on his shoulders, delivering a game-high 31 points. Thatcher did most of his damage from behind the arc where he connected on six 3-pointers.
Thatcher stayed hot on Thursday against West Deptford, but the Eagles escaped with a 50-49 victory on a layup by Mike Gardner with three seconds remaining. Thatcher finished with 19 points, while R.J. McCullogh had nine.
The Hawks closed the regular season at 14-8. They will have a full week of practice to prepare to take on Clayton in the first round of the NJSIAA Group 1 playoffs next Tuesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Hawks will enter the Group 1 playoffs next week not only as a No. 1 seed, but as one of the hottest basketball teams in the state. Haddon Township went 4-0 over the last seven days to close the regular season at 20-2. The Hawks’ last loss came on Dec. 20.
Haddon Township opened its week with a 65-38 dismantling of Overbrook and followed with a 66-23 win over West Deptford. Bella Preziosi led the way with 17 points against the Eagles, while Sarah Getzinger and Morgan Lenehan finished with 12 each.
The Hawks then took down Camden, 68-41, in a non-conference win. Preziosi filled up the nets with 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Katie Burns also had a double-double, collecting 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Finally, the Hawks survived one of their stiffest tests of the season against Paul VI on Monday. Alayxiah Carr was magnificent on the defensive end, swiping five steals, while Preziosi once again paced the offense with 22 points.
Haddon Township has one non-conference game remaining against Westampton Tech on Friday before opening up the playoffs against Camden Charter next Tuesday.
WRESTLING
The Hawks took care of business in their final tune-up before the individual portion of the season gets going this weekend. Moorestown and Haddon Township each won seven bouts during their match Saturday, but the Hawks recorded four pins and surrendered just one in a 36-27 win. Chris Wolf (106), Eric Rodriguez (132), Mike McCutcheon (145) and Keith Hernandez (220) all scored pins to help the Hawks finish 18-6.
The Haddon Township wrestlers will find out their seeds Wednesday or Thursday as they prepare to compete in districts this weekend.
