Haddon Twp. BOE Honors Albino and Caputi for Years of Service

Two BOE members say good-bye to board positions.

It was an emotional night for members of the Haddon Township school board during their monthly meeting Thursday.

Board president Mark Cavallo read resolutions honoring Charles Albino and Wendy Caputi during their last official meeting as members of the board.

"It doesn’t happen often when board members leave," Cavallo said of the resolutions.

Albino served on the board since April 2006. He was unsuccessful in his bid for re-election in November. On the night of the election, Albino said “I looked at the position as one of service. I’m certain I’ll find something to do that is productive for the town.” Throughout his six-and-a-half years, the board dealt with unique and unprecedented issues. In Albino’s opinion, the board came together and handled those tasks well. Albino closed by saying, “I will always treasure my time on the board and will not run again, that door is closed.”

Acting Superintendent Cheryl Simone said, “Chuck is thoughtful, logical and a person who wants to solve problems.” Fellow board member John Kendall said he looks forward to seeing Albino and Caputi “on the campus of life and the campus of Haddon Township.”

Caputi resigned from her position on the board after 10-and-a-half years of service. Caputi joined the board in March 2002. Thursday’s meeting was emotional for Caputi. Acting Superintendent Cheryl Simone spoke fondly of her friend and colleague and said, “Wendy is passionate. Passionate about her kids, Haddon Township, her family and the BOE. Sometimes that passion explodes, but in a good way.”

In January, the board will welcome two new members. Marie Dezii and Jill Noller won their positions during the November election. Incumbent Robert Brown retained his seat.
