Haddonfield BOE Did Not Vote on Teacher's Contract Thursday

The board approved a tentative deal last week.

The Haddonfield Board of Education will not approve a tentative deal with the Haddonfield Education Association at its regular meeting Thursday, board President Steve Weinstein said.

The deal with the HEA, the bargaining unit for district teachers and some other district employees, was reached late last week. There was some speculation the teachers would approved the deal before the board's meeting Thursday, but that did not happen.

"We had hoped to have it for today but it just wasn't possible to get it done right and quickly, on both sides," Sharon Stokes, co-president of the HEA, said Thursday. "Hopefully we will be voting tomorrow or on Monday."

Stokes said some final details were still being ironed out.

Teachers will vote by paper ballot during school hours, she said.

The contract could be approved in a special board meeting or at the next regular meeting on Feb. 9, Stokes said.
