Steve Weinstein Accepts Major Position with Rowan University

Steve Weinstein, a Haddonfield attorney who also serves as the president of the borough school board, was hired as vice president for governmental relations and general counsel for Rowan University, an announcement said Friday.

Weinstein will leave his position as partner with the firm of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt and Fader to take the job, which he started this week.

"I believe Rowan will be the primary economic driver in South Jersey for jobs and research," Weinstein said Friday evening. "It's going to be a very exciting place."

Weinstein, 66, also served as a member of the Rowan Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1996, including holding the position of chair of the board. He said Rowan will be one of only two universities in the country to have medical schools offering degrees in osteopathy and as medical doctors. Michigan State is the only other school, he said.

Friday's announcement also said Melissa Wheatcroft, a Haddonfield resident and former corporate counsel and vice president of quality management for Bancroft, was named associate general counsel and Dr. Kenneth Blank was named the vice president for Health Sciences.

Wheatcroft most recently served as of counsel for Comegno Law Group, concentrating her practice on education law, as well as labor and employment law.

Banks most recently served as senior vice provost for research and graduate education at Temple University. Other positions include vice provost for research at Northeastern University, vice provost for research at Drexel University, senior associate vice provost for research at Drexel University and associate dean for research at Allegheny University of the Health Sciences (now Drexel University College of Medicine).

Weinstein declined to cite his salary for his new position. He said he plans, for now, to continue serving as the president of the Haddonfield Board of Education, for which he receives no compensation, and several other positions, including  chairman of the Camden County United Way. His BOE seat expires in January 2014.
