Each week Haddonfield Patch will highlight one local student-athlete who has produced a standout performance in his or her sport.
Names: Erica Pascocello and Arpie Senopoulos
Year: Pascocello (junior), Senopoulos (sophomore)
Team: Haddonfield girls’ tennis
Accomplishment: Pascocello and Senopoulos had a big weekend, bringing home the doubles title at the Camden County Championships at Eastern. The members of Haddonfield’s first doubles team disposed of Adel Boyarsky and Lauren Romisher, of Cherry Hill East, 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals. The duo then took on a pair of familiar faces in the finals—Haddonfield’s second doubles team of Chelsea Brown and Sylvia Strauss. The second doubles team put up a fight for the first set, but Pascocello and Senopoulos proved to be too strong, delivering a 6-4, 6-0 win.
How they did it: Pascocello and Senopoulos have developed a quick rapport with one another in their first season as partners. Both are talented enough to play at singles for just about any other team in the state, but have not let playing doubles hurt their spirit in the slightest.
Coach’s Take: Haddonfield coach Jeffrey Holman was pleased with the performance of both of his doubles teams, but knows all of the girls are hungry to do even better.
“Both doubles teams are certainly doing a lot of things well, though we are still giving away too many points with double faults and unforced errors," Holman said. "The players individually and collectively have set very high goals for themselves and realize that they still must improve substantially if they hope to achieve those goals.”
