Letter to the Editor

As appeared in this week's Retrospect:

To the Editor:

In just over a month Haddonfield residents will go to the polls and select 3 members of the Board of Education. Without any incumbents in the race, a full 1/3 of the board will be new. Each member will bring their ideas and opinions to the BOE and hopefully will work well with those already serving. Of all the issues that confront our schools including safety, aging school buildings, growing class sizes and mandated investments in technology, the biggest issue, in my opinion, is the lost trust in our elected officials.

This year’s Bancroft referendum, turf field debate and commissioner election exposed this loss of the public trust. Moving forward we need the community efficiently and openly working with the school board to solve our challenges but without a common trust we will get nowhere fast.

As a candidate for Haddonfield’s board I pledge to bring an open mind and a spirit of cooperation to every meeting and interaction with the community. As a resident and taxpayer I’m looking for that same attitude in those who will earn my votes.

Sincerely,
