Haddonfield Crew Opens a 'Promising' Season

The next race is this weekend in Philadelphia.

The Haddonfield Crew fall season continues this weekend with the Head of the Schuykill event in Philadelphia.

The team fielded four boats in the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuykill River on October 12. The 2.5-mile race included more than 50 events with 2,000 athletes from colleges and high schools throughout the region.

 The Men’s Varsity 8+ (Hurd/Epstein/Ruggiero/Dye/Eggstein/Small/Levin/Lario/Gallwitz) placed 3rd in their race out of a field of 20 boats. The Men’s JV8+ (Graves/Schmitt/O’Brien/Howe-Smith/Giangiulio/Mandiwalla/Sperandio/Reese/Hart) rowed to a strong 6th place finish out of 22 competitors.    

Five Haddonfield boats competed in the first regatta of the year in Wilmington, DE at the Head of the Christina and showed promising results. The Men’s Youth Varsity 8+ (Hurd/Epstein/Ruggiero/Dye/Eggstein/Gangemi/Levin/Lario/Gallwitz) placed 3rd in their race out of a field of 14 boats and the Men’s Youth JV8+ (Small/Schmitt/Graves/Howe-Smith/O’Brien/Giangiulio/Sperandio/Reese/Hart) captured 4th place out of 15 competitors.

Participation in Haddonfield Crew has exploded this year to 73 rowers with more than 30 joining the team in September.
