Haddonfield, Haddon Township Each Win Three Events at Garden State Rowing Championships

Haddonfield and Haddon Township each won three events at the Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championships Saturday at Cooper River.

The Haddon Township duo of Tyler Kao and Keaton Schneider won the Mens Sr. 2x, edging a team from Don Bosco Prep by about two seconds. Kao and Schneider recorded a time of 5:21.37. The Don Bosco team’s time was 5:23.09.

The Haddon Township team of Paul Duffy, Luke Brown, Daniel McGarry and Erik Tingley won the Mens Freshman 4x with a time of 5:24.42. St. Augustine was second with a time of 6:08.28.

Haddon Township also captured the Mens Sr. 4x with a time of 4:46.98. The team was made up of Noah Haney, Daniel Woods, Ryan Springer and Joel Egbert.

The Haddonfield team captained by Jack Richards and consisting of Alexander Sperandino, Lachlan Mersky, Alexander Fisher and Zachary Ruggiero won the Mens Freshman 4+ with a time of 5:32.15, defeating Moorestown by about nine seconds (5:41.06).

The Haddonfield team captained by Lydia Mackey and consisting of Emily Campo, Alexandra Palavage, Abigail Bentley, Kathleen Hohweiler, Christine Castorino, Hannah Cooper, Mia Ippolito and Elina Kommedal won the Womens Freshmen 8+ with a time of 5:19.91. Holy Spirit was second at 5:30.61.

Haddonfield’s team of Andrew Graves, Colin George, James O’Brien, Louis Epstein, Luke Small, Max Levin, Jonathan Dye and Paul Hurd, captained by Owen Hart, won the Mens Jr. 8+ with a time of 4:35.48, beating Ocean City by about four seconds (4:39.11).

Each team also took home several second and third place finishes.

Haddon Township’s Noa Boonin and Angela Sperlunto were second in the Womens Lightweight 2x with a time of 6:08.41.

Haddon Township’s Joe Weber took third in the Mens Jr. 1x (6:19.62), while Haddonfield’s Aamir Mandviwalla took fourth (7:32.40).

Haddon Township’s Mariana Catrambone and Madeline Remetz took third place in the Womens Sr. 2x with a time of 7:14.81.

Captain Lise Kommedal and her team consisting of Katie Wilkinson, Helene Schlitt, Meghan Knecht and Emily Stasi, of Haddonfield, took second in the Womens Sr. 4+ with a time of 5:53.08, about four seconds behind Holy Spirit (5:49.84.).

The Haddonfield team captained by Julia Gallwitz and consisting of Nicholas Lario, Nicholas Gangemi, Nick Ruggerio and Christopher Eggstein finished second in the Mens Sr. 4+, four seconds behind the Christian Brothers (5:01.98).

Haddonfield finished second in the Mens Lightweight 4+ in 5:16.75, about six seconds behind the Christian Brothers (5:10.04). The Haddonfield team was captained by Erica McCaughey, and team was made up of Andrew Walters, Matthew Schmitt, Tanner Reese and Blaize Giangiulio.

The Haddonfield team captained by Emma Tranfalia and consisting of Kathryn Donohue, Elle Butler Basner, Mary D’Anella-Mercanti and Veronica Fisher finished third in the Womens Jr. 4+ division. Their official time was 6:10.28, 10 seconds behind the winners from Ocean City.

Haddonfield took third in the Women’s Lightweight 8+ behind the efforts of Cassidy Webb, Natalie Zucca, Caroline Bolletino, Shannon Murphy, Katherine Montegna, Valerie Fannelle, Julia Honigfeld and Danielle Coates, captained by Madeline Kane. They finished in 5:47.73.
