Haddonfield Snags Top Seed in Girls' Tennis Playoffs

Haddon Township has the No. 3 seed in the Group 1 playoffs.

The first high school sports playoff season is right around the corner.

The girls’ tennis team playoffs are set to begin Thursday, with the individual and doubles state tournaments beginning this weekend.

Seedings were announced and posted on nj.com Monday morning.

Haddonfield earned the No. 1 seed in South Jersey Group 2, where 12 teams made the field. Middle Township was seeded No. 2, Collingswood is No. 3 and Woodstown is No. 4.

All four teams will face the winners of opening round matchups, which read as follows:

* No. 5 Barnegat hosts No. 12 Pleasantville; winner vs. Woodstown;

* No. 6 Cedar Creek hosts No. 11 Sterling; winner vs. Collingswood;

* No. 7 West Deptford hosts No. 10 Deptford; winner vs. Middle Township; and

* No. 8 Haddon Heights hosts No. 9 Bridgeton; winner vs. Haddonfield.

Haddon Township was seeded No. 3 in the nine-team South Jersey Group 1 field, and will host No. 6 Palmyra in the opening contest.

Haddonfield had two players seeded in the state singles tournament, which commences Saturday at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center, 9 a.m.

Amanda Lanciano and Victoria Martinez are both seeded in the 9-16 range.
