Time to Dust Off Your Cleats: Haddonfield Little League Sign-Ups

Haddonfield Little League is gearing up for its 63rd season.

Opening day is seven weeks away and Haddonfield Little League is already busy scheduling events to make the spring season a success. 

Mike Malady, president of Haddonfield Little League, is excited for the 2013 season. “We have between 500-600 players from pre-K to ninth grade participating, girls and boys," Malady said.

In additon to sign-ups, other events include a free coach’s clinic sponsored by Haddonfield Little League. The clinic takes place 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the All-Star Baseball Academy, 3  Esterbrook Lane, Cherry Hill.

Bob Bickel, head baseball coach at Haddonfield Memorial High School, will lead the clinic. Anyone interested in coaching this season is encouraged to attend. Registration is requested by emailing Mike Malady at mike.malady@jjstaff.com

In addition, it is required that all coaches and assistants attend a three-hour Rutgers safety course. Rutgers offers a free class on Feb. 20 at 6  p.m. at Haddonfield Memorial High School, Room C-8. To register for this course, email John Kawczynski at jek@fwklaw.com

Dick’s Sporting Goods Little League Day is set for March 9. Details can be found at haddonfieldbaseball.org

League Field Day is scheduled for March 16 at 9 a.m. The annual tradition of de-winterizing town fields, raking leaves, and prepping the field for opening day is a requirement for all players and their families to attend.

The annual Opening Day parade takes place on April 6. Players will step off at 10 a.m. in front of the Presbyterian church. Teams will march down Kings Highway to Potter Street with Opening Day ceremonies taking place on the field. Mayor Tish Colombi will throw out the first ball for the last time as mayor.
