The Philadelphia Eagles on Friday announced their decision to release wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Rumors of the release had been swirling in recent days, and grew Friday following a Star-Ledger story alleging that Jackson had gang connections

Jackson has denied those allegations, but Philadelphia Inquirer Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane said they were the final straw for the Eagles.

here we go again getting rid of our best players like the sixers did because we did not want to pay them so come up some bull excuse to get rid of him, i so tired of cheap owners

There is a lot more to the story. You just don't release a player that gave them so much offense without something in return. They also took a 6 million dollar hit on the salary cap. He was the Eagles down field threat and it opened up the middle for the other receivers. Too hard to replace that on a football team.

He was a playmaker and the eagles need that.

So was Vick but they let him go to the Jets....

Vick has been hurt the last two years and has yet to finish the season with a winning percentage. He is lucky that he got that type of money.
