BOE Election Update and Comments
As some of you may know, the election results for the third seat on the Board of Education may not be finalized for several days. I (Carlton Chin) currently hold a very slight lead over Amy Keys Shaw (of 14 votes) for the third seat. I understand that Absentee ballots have been counted -- and that Provisional ballots are currently being counted. This involves matching and verifying ballots and votes. Results may not be finalized until next week.
This election has truly been an education on elections: every vote counts! And what we do as a individuals and as a community can have a real impact not only on elections -- but on major issues such as policy, and planning for the future. No matter how the final election result turns out, I want to thank everyone who has followed this election -- and especially want to thank all of my supporters.
Congratulations to Mary Fagan and David Siedell for earning seats on the BOE. I also want to congratulate Amy Keys Shaw, who ran a nice campaign and represents so much good in the community. No matter the final result, the interest generated in this election will serve our schools, BOE, and community well.
Thank you,
Carlton Chin
