Sunny, Cooler Day for Farmers Market, Outdoor Movie

The Westmont Farmers Market springs back into life today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Haddon and Stratford avenues.

Fresh produce and conversation is always on tap, along with live entertainment. The street-fair atmosphere is a welcome oasis in midweek.

After wrapping up at the farmers market, why not take in a free movie under the stars? Oz, the Great and Powerful will be shown on the artificial turf field at Recchino, across Crystal Lake Avenue from the Tap Room restaurant. Refreshments will be sold there.

In Haddonfield, the Historic Preservation Commission will consider a proposal from the Christian Science Church to construct a parking lot behind it with an entrance on Sylvan Lake Avenue. The front of the church is in the 300 block of Kings Highway East. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Hall, 242 Kings Highway East.

A group of neighbors has circulated a petition against the parking lot. They say it will mar the historic nature of their neighborhood. The HPC denied a request for the church parking lot in March 2011. The HPC is an advisory commission for the zoning and planning boards, which have final say on land-use petitions.
