Potato Sack Races, Pop-Up Water Park on Weekend Agenda

Need something to do this weekend? You have plenty of choices in and around Haddonfield and Haddon Township.

Remember when exercise was fun? Recapture a little of that spirit this weekend at Cooper River with a community field day on Sunday.

From potato sack races to water balloon tosses and relays, the field day brings the classics to Cooper River at a day meant for the entire family to enjoy. Activities run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Cooper River Park stadium area.

Care to cool down with some jazz? Duck out of the field day a bit early and head to Haddonfield United Methodist Church for a concert by Tex Wyndham at 2 p.m. Or stretch your green thumb with Haddon Township Environmental and Historical Center’s presentation, “Our Relationship with Water.”

Your Saturday can be just as busy. Start out with a stop by Haddonfield Farmers Market and its celebration this week of corn. The market runs 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Then hop in the car and head toward Haddon Township. Ritz Theatre’s young thespians put on a camp show, All for One, on Saturday at 3 p.m.; doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Pack your swimsuit in the car because after the show you’ll be just around the corner from Oaklyn Baptist Church’s pirate-themed water park, free on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

And if you still need something to do, don’t forget about Collingswood’s Craft and Fine Arts Festival on Haddon Ave. both Saturday and Sunday—the avenue will be closed in downtown Collingswood both days, so take care if you’re driving in the area.
