Haddonfield Commissioners Scheduled to Discuss Bancroft Purchase

Here's a quick look at today's work-session agenda.

A discussion about the pending Bancroft public purchase is at the top of the agenda for the borough Board of Commissioner's work session at 4 p.m. today at the Municipal Hall. The borough and school board are backing a January bond referendum to spend up to $12.5 million to acquire and develop the 19-acre, Bancroft property on Kings Highway East next to Haddonfield Memorial High School. The Bancroft discussion may be in a non-public, executive session. The board went into executive session at its last work-session meeting to discuss Bancroft. Haddonfield Commissioners Agenda: May 22

Officials will consider a proposal to fund an artificial turf field.

Here's a look at tonight's Board of Commissioner's meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Hall. Please click on the PDF to see the full agenda. The Haddonfield Board of Commissioners are expected to vote tonight on a resolution to spend $354,000 as part of a $1 million project to install artificial turf on two fields at Haddonfield Memorial High School. The money will be contingent on $500,000 in private funds raised by a community group for the project. The borough board of education has already approved $150,000 toward the project, which will resurface turf at the high school football stadium and the adjacent Anniversary Field. In the patch article last week concerning the artificial turf, safety issues for our athletes was the reason for this huge investment. There was a survey posted by Dan showing a huge reduction in every type of sports injury when played on artificial turf.
