Haddon Township's Harter won the 55-meter hurdles title in the NJSIAA Winter Track Group 1 Championships.
The winter season has begun to wind down, leaving just playoffs and tournaments left on the calendar. The Haddon Township High School girls basketball team continues to play like one of the best teams in the state, going 4-0 during the past seven days. Meanwhile, Trey Thatcher was lights out for the boys basketball team and the winter track team had a runner win a state title. WINTER TRACK Corsen Harter saved his absolute best for last. Harter won the 55-meter hurdles at the NJSIAA Winter Track Group 1 Championships. Harter qualified with a second-place finish in the preliminaries, crossing the line in 7.96. It was a good week for the indoor track team, but the wrestling squad experienced an early playoff elimination.
Several Haddon Township runners and throwers found success last week at the NJSIAA Indoor Track Champions last week, highlighting a busy week of action. The boys and girls basketball teams also found success, while the wrestling team experienced disappointment. WRESTLING The playoffs didn’t turn out the way the Haddon Township wrestling team had hoped. The Hawks—who entered the Group 1 tournament as a No. 3 seed—were eliminated in the first round to No. 6 Woodstown, 41-22. The Hawks got three-straight pins from Connor Kelly (120), Brian Navaro (126) and Jason Martinak (132), but managed just one win the rest match. The Haddon Township High School girls’ basketball team didn’t get a whole lot of practice sessions in last week; they were too busy winning games. The Hawks went 4-0 in a busy week, increasing their standing as one of the top teams in the Colonial Conference. Meanwhile, the wrestling team won a pair of lopsided matches and the swimming regular season came to an end. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL All season long the Hawks have defied the odds by having continued success with five underclassmen in their starting lineup. There was no shortage of excitement around the Haddon Township High School wrestling team last week as the Hawks had three matches decided by just a single point. While the wrestling team had to sweat out contests, the Haddon Township girls’ basketball team produced a couple of lopsided victories. Meanwhile the boys’ basketball team heads into its toughest week of the season. WRESTLING It was a busy and drama-filled week for the Hawks, who took to the mat for six matches, winning three. The week started off with a heartbreaking 31-30 loss to West Deptford. With each passing game the Haddon Township High School girls’ basketball team proves that being young can be a very good thing. The Hawks went undefeated again last week and have transformed into one of the Colonial Conference’s best teams. Meanwhile, the wrestling team also had a monster week, going 4-0 against some strong competition. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL With a starting lineup that doesn’t include a single upperclassman, Haddon Township girls’ basketball coach Tom Mulligan found a different way to inject some experience into his team. There has been no stopping the basketball teams at Haddon Township High School these days as both squads had a dominating week in Colonial Conference action. Meanwhile, the wrestling team didn’t let a loss to Paulsboro slow it down and the swimming team got a host of personal bests in its meet with West Deptford.
