Media Expert: Haddonfield Sun's Contract With Haddonfield 'Unethical'

The Haddonfield Sun performs media services for Haddonfield while reporting on the borough in its weekly newspaper.

A local media expert said this week the paid contract for media services the Haddonfield Sun newspaper has with the borough is extremely unusual and likely unethical. “I’ve never heard of an arrangement like this,” said Larry Litwin, an associate professor of public relations and advertising at Rowan University, who also teaches an ethics course there. “It’s clearly a violation of any ethics code.  It’s clearly crossing the line. In the end, you could be giving advice to the subject you are covering in the news. That’s unfathomable.” Haddonfield Patch discovered the unusual arrangement when it was listed as an agenda item in the borough commissioner’s meeting Tuesday. Herb H, that is quite a statement. First point I'd like to emphasize is that the current contract was a "for bid" contract and that is the substance of this story. The second point is your comment on the prior contract is a bit more than inflamitory. I don't agree or disagree with your facts or statements.
