The Haddonfield seafood and steakhouse restaurant expands.
The Little Tuna restaurant is expanding into the storefront next door that used to be Forever Young Emporium and Jamaican Me Crazy. The restaurant at 141 Kings Highway East will annex the storefront at 139 Kings Highway East, according to Remi Fortunato, the retail recruiter for the Partnership for Haddonfield, the borough, business-tax funded business improvement district. "They're going to have a fresh fish and butchered meat market there and it will be the new entrance to the restaurant," Fortunato said. "It will have a theme like a butcher shop from the 1920s, with clerks with long, white aprons and white tiles on the walls. Local favorites HerSport and Forever Young Emporium are leaving Haddonfield in January. A third business, Georgie Girl, will close in June 2013.
Relocation signs on two mainstays in the Haddonfield Business District have many customers wondering why. HerSport, a female athlete's "go to" source for apparel, field hockey, lacrosse and soccer gear is moving from its Kings Highway location on Jan. 1. "We plan to open on Jan. 5 at our new location in Cherry Hill," owner Deb Gallagher said. "The ceilings are three feet higher and we will have a wider storefront making the store more interactive for field hockey and lacrosse players selecting equipment." Haddonfield's Kings Highway apparel and gift shop will now be known as Forever Young Emporium.
Gary Reses said he was tired of his apparel and gift shop being confused with other stores sharing the same name, especially at the Jersey Shore. So tired, in fact, that he recently changed the name from Jamaican Me Crazy to Forever Young Emporium. "Same great store, same great merchandise," Reses said one day this week while standing behind the counter of his store. "There are stores at the shore we're not affiliated with and didn't want to be confused for." Reses had operated Jamaican Me Crazy for nearly 11 years at 139 Kings Highway East.
