The former Audubon High School star threw three touchdowns in a 34-31 win for Baltimore over San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII.
South Jersey's own Joe Flacco won the MVP award Sunday, leading his Baltimore Ravens over the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31, in Super Bowl XLVII. Flacco, an Audubon High School grad and University of Delaware star, completed 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns to win the Most Valuable Player award in a game that came down to the last seconds. Flacco flew more than 40 relatives, some of whom live in Haddon Township, to New Orleans to watch the game in a local restaurant. His parents actually attended the game in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Flacco family has close ties to Haddon Township. There's very little doubt who the locals will be pulling for when Super Bowl XLVII kicks off at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Of course, the Philadelphia Eagles are nowhere near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans today. But there is an Eagles connection. Tom Gamble, the son of former Eagles President Harry Gamble, is the director of player development for the 49ers and a 1981 Haddonfield Memorial High School graduate. Haddon Township senior Kim Flacco will be one of 60 of Joe's family and friends heading down to watch the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
The Huck Finn’s Restaurant and Sports Bar is known for having some of the best shrimp po-boys and jambalaya in New Orleans. It’s also known as a great place to catch a sporting event with friends. By Sunday night, it may be known as the new home of the Joe Flacco Fan Club. Haddon Township High School senior Kim Flacco is one of about 60 of Joe’s family members and friends hopping on a plane today and heading to New Orleans. Joe is picking up the tab to ensure he'll have the people who mean the most to him as close as possible, including his cousin Kim.
