2 Resignations Highlight Haddonfield BOE Meeting

A board member and a district officials announced their resignations.

School district Assistant Superintendent Dyanne Kerecman and board member Lynn Biehn announced their resignations Thursday at a regular school board meeting.

Kerecman said her decision was recent, although she had been considering retirement for a long time.

“This is the second time I have worked here. I was lucky enough to come back to the district,” she said.

Board President Steve Weinstein said the resignation was a big loss for the district. He said plans to secure a replacement for Kerecman will begin quickly with hopes that the new candidate can spend time in the job before Kerecman’s July 1 retirement date.

“We will begin a search process pretty quickly, and try to move to a selection process so the person has an opportunity to work with Dyanne and compare notes,” he elaborated.

Biehn announced her resignation from the board effective immediately. Her board term, which ends in January 2013, began in 2009. She cited personal reasons for her departure.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am submitting my resignation to the board, effective at the end of tonight’s meeting,” she said.

“I wanted to give back some of what had been given to me by the great professionals that work in this district. I simply can’t get done what I’d like to do and continue on as part of the board,” advised Biehn.

Weinstein thanked Biehn for her contribution.

“We all benefited from your insights, devotion and dedication. We understand there are times to move on and we all benefited from your contribution,” he concluded.

The board has 60 days to make an appointment to Biehn’s  term, at the end of which, the appointee will have to run for election to a new term, Weinstein said.

“We will start the process of asking interested members of the public to submit a resume and statement of interest within the next two to three weeks.”

Biehn's replacement will join Andrew Berlin on the next school election ballot in November. Berlin was appointed to fill out the term of former board member Marsha Marshall.
